Scan Math is an alternative math class. Students work in an individual program. Students who choose to work hard can make more growth than in a "typical" math class. Scan Math students have homework EVERY night; Monday - Fridays. Students who do not finish their homework need to stay after school THAT DAY until it is finished so that the students do not fall behind in their work.
This class explores being a more advanced user of technology as well as becoming a teacher of technology. Students take care of the 200 computers at CMS. They teach staff and community members how to better use the computer and various software. This is a fun busy class.
Leadership plans activities at CMS, weekly recycle the entire school, participate in community service projects, and complete at least six personal community service projects in the semester. Leadership students work very hard but it is fun being part of what is happening @ CMS.
Eighth graders who wish to be in Leadership must fill out an application and get a recommendation from a CMS staff member.
This class provides a time for reading practice. The more you read, the better reader you become. Students set goals that encourage them to improve in their own personal reading ability.
